Antibiotics are Often Used at the End of Life, but at What Cost?

It is not surprising that antibiotics are overused, including in hospitalized patients at the end of life. While antibiotics may be beneficial for infections that are painful and distressing, many hospice patients may lack evidence of an infection or antibiotics may be misused, sometimes leading to antibiotic resistance.
