The Palliative Care Network of Wisconsin (PCNOW) provides peer-reviewed, evidence-based summaries of key palliative care topics (“Fast Facts”). This Fast Fact reviews the trajectory of dementia, the prognosis, and AG needs at each stage. To best care for these persons living with dementia (PLWDs) and their care partners, anticipatory guidance (AG) is needed to identify the current stage of dementia, forecast care issues, and prevent/manage complications and symptoms.
