Assessing Emotional Suffering in Palliative Care

Patients receiving palliative care experience not only physical distress but also emotional and spiritual distress.  It is the role of the interdisciplinary palliative care team to assess, address and document these experiences.

Lamba and colleagues conducted a mixed-methods, retrospective study to examine ways to increase the frequency and documentation of emotional and spiritual encounters, with a goal to improve the quality of the notes made.
