The role of modifiable lifestyle risk factors, such as diet, in slowing cognitive decline and reducing Alzheimer’s disease dementia risk among increasingly diverse aging populations is of great public health interest. This study reviewed the Mediterranean–Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND) diet’s association with cognitive decline by race among older adults in the Chicago Health and Aging Project. Five thousand two hundred fifty-nine participants completed a food frequency questionnaire and two or more cognitive assessments. The MIND diet was associated with slower cognitive decline in Black and White older adults, but this may vary with other lifestyle and vascular factors.
