ON March 20th, the Institute of Medicine hosted a national meeting of policy and health care leaders and other stakeholders to discuss ways to implement the recommendations in the IOM report Dying in America: Improving Quality and Honoring Individual Preferences Near the End of Life.
Speakers at the event included Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Mark Warner (D-VA), keynote presenter Atul Gwande, and leaders from the National Quality Forum, NHPCO, American Nurses Association, American Cancer Society, US Department of Veterans Affairs. and CMS, among others.
