Patients with diabetes who have hypoglycemia in the 24 hours prior to hospital discharge have a significantly increased risk of readmission within 30 days and a higher likelihood of dying post-discharge, new research shows. The research was a nation-wide cohort study published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism and included over 840,000 admissions of patients with diabetes at Veteran Affairs hospitals over a 14-year period.
