Manageable oral conditions may go unnoticed among palliative care patients, especially in those with diminished ability to communicate concerns. In an integrative review of studies focused on oral conditions of palliative patients published between 2000 to 2017, investigators found xerostomia, oral candidiasis and dysphagia among the most common oral conditions among palliative patients, followed by mucositis, orofacial pain, taste change and ulceration. Other findings include social and functional effects among patients.
