According to the World Health Organization (WHO) definition, “palliative care” improves the quality of life of patients and families, who face life-threatening illness, by providing symptom relief and spiritual and psychosocial support from diagnosis to the end-of-life.
Does palliative care have a role in cases of sudden death? Although many may focus solely on bereavement follow-up with family in these cases, palliative care can also provide support and is important in sudden deaths. This concept is explored in an article published online in Medscape Nurses.
