Preventive Drugs Could Be Safely Discontinued in Elderly with Advanced Cancer

In a nationwide cohort study published last month in Cancer, retrospective data on over 150,000 older adults with solid tumors was collected and the monthly use and cost of preventative medications during the last year of life were evaluated.  Investigators found that preventative medications were often continued until the final month of life including antihypertensives, platelet aggregation inhibitors, anticoagulants, statins, and oral antidiabetics.
