Quality of Life of Patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic disease with a high symptom burden and poor survival that influences patients’ health-related quality of life (HRQOL). In this clinical cohort study, published in BMC Pulmonary Medicine, investigators surveyed 247 patients with IPF in their last two years of life and found HRQOL to be considerably low with the most prominent declines occurring in physical function, vitality, emotional role and social functioning (p < 0.001).
