NASHVILLE, TN – October 28, 2014 – Enclara Health, LLC and its recently acquired affiliate excelleRx, Inc. dba Hospice Pharmacia announced today that they will hereafter go to market as Enclara Pharmacia. The new company name and logo has been unveiled in Booth #700 at the 15th Clinical Team Conference and Pediatric Intensive. The trade show and conference produced by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), in cooperation with the Tennessee Hospice Organization, is taking place this week at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
“In August, we purchased Hospice Pharmacia, creating the premier comprehensive mail order and pharmacy benefit management (PBM) local pharmacy offering, focused on the complex clinical, financial, and regulatory needs of hospice providers,” said Andy Horowitz, CEO, Enclara Pharmacia. “Today we are pleased to unveil our new name and logo, which combines the strengths of our respective organizations, as well as continues to highlight the symbolism represented by the “elephant in the room,” which often distracts from the needed conversations surrounding terminal illness; as well as the poppy flower, which emphasizes our goal to achieve appropriate but aggressive pain and symptom management for our patients, enhancing their quality of life.”
Immediately following the acquisition, Enclara Pharmacia’s combined leadership quickly focused its attention on enhancing the customer service experience across its entire client base. “We have been reviewing and thoughtfully implementing best practices from both organizations. Thus far, the results and feedback have been very positive; our customers indicate that they see and “feel” our proactive approach and responsiveness to their day-to-day, as well as their longer-term, clinical and fiscal needs,” states Betsy Rothley, Chief Development Officer. Rothley continues, “Our customers are beginning to understand that there are great opportunities to partner with their pharmacy service provider to optimize drug utilization and cost management. Enclara Pharmacia now has the unprecedented buying power for palliative drug procurement, as well as a technology infrastructure to clearly surpass the competitive landscape.”
The NHPCO conference offers extensive and intensive, intermediate and advanced educational sessions on a wide variety of topics. On Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm in the Presidential Ballroom, Terri Maxwell, PhD, APRN and Loren Brook, PharmD, both of Enclara, together with Judi Lund Person, MPH and Jennifer Kennedy, MA, BSN, will present on the Guidance and Support for Hospices under CMS’ Updated Medicare D Rules.
The Learning Objectives for the session include summarizing CMS’ policy on handling Part D payment for beneficiaries enrolled in hospice; describing best practices for determining and documenting relatedness and demonstrating strategies for identifying and communicating about medication discontinuation or other medication changes with patients, caregivers, and prescribers.
